This extract has a confirmed 90% Liensinine. This is one of the 3 main active ingredients in Lotus Leaf.

These herbal extracts are ideal for adding to herbal teas, or other beverages, and can also be added to foods. When calculating the required amount, consider how much of the normal herb you would use, and divide that by at least 10 as these extracts are concentrated. The Nelumbo nucifera extract is safe to consume. There are no publicised dosage recommendations but it would not be recommended to exceed 100 mg per day.

Liensinine, an important functional compound in lotus seeds, has anti-cancer, anti-fibrosis, anti-proliferative, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory activities.

Flavonoids are another of the main components of lotus leaf. The health benefits of flavonolds are well-known and are displayed as a remarkable range of biochemical and pharmacological properties.

The lovely lotus, which lives in the water but pokes its head above the surface, and whose beautiful flowers open in the morning as the Sun rises, and close at night. It has charmed eastern and middle eastern cultures for millennium. The pales green leaves, which lay flat upon the surface of the water, reach a diameter of up to 60cm They are collected in the summer and autumn, and dried and processed into the herbal extract.

Lotus Leaf Extract is effective as an astringent, cardiotonic , anti-febrile agent, hypotensive, resolvent , styptic, tonic and vasodilator.

Scientific research has revealed that lotus leaf contains alkaloids, flavonoids and tannins. The isoquinline alkaloids in the leaf have sedative and antispasmodic properties, which may aid in digestion, and the flavonoids and tannins are powerful antioxidants which protect the heart and assist in weight loss.

The ability of the extract to stimulate and tonify the liver and spleen make it a useful detox agent.
